The Dusty Film & Animation Festival introduces the work of emerging filmmakers and animators from the School of Visual Arts.
Held each spring since 1990, the Dustys culminate in a gala awards ceremony with celebrity presenters and industry professionals. This year, the Film, Video and Animation Department proudly presents the 23rd Annual Dusty Film & Animation Festival in the College’s state-of-the-art SVA Theatre, located in the heart of New York’s legendary Chelsea neighborhood.
Presenters have included such luminaries as Danny Aiello, Karen Allen, Edward Burns, Patricia Clarkson, Sean Combs, Wes Craven, John Dilworth, Phil Donahue, Robert Elswit, Randall Emmett, James Gandolfini, James Ivory, Harvey Keitel, Kevin Kline, David Koepp, Doug Liman, Viveca Lindfors, Matthew Modine, Andrew Mondshein, Mira Nair, Arthur Penn, Richard Price, Bill Plympton, John Patrick Shanley, Tom Sito, Bryan Singer, Todd Solondz and Annie Sundberg.
Film and animation graduates of SVA have received accolades and honors from renowned institutions and organizations such as the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences; Academy of Television Arts and Sciences; Sundance Film Festival; International Animated Film Festival in Annecy, France; American Film Institute; Women in Film; National Board of Review, and many others.
